TRAILS & OUTDOOR RECREATION SITES
ACTIVE OUTDOOR LIFESTYLE
The Kitimat Valley has great trails for hiking, fishing, mountain biking, trail riding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling and ATVing. Some lead to mountain peaks, ridges and lakes, some visit old growth forests. Shorter trails lead to Giant Sitka Spruce Park, Hirsch Creek Canyon Falls, Humphrey’s Creek Falls, and the Pine Creek ecosystem. Our Onion Lake Ski Trail X-Country/Mountain Biking trails are legendary and our “garden city design” with a 45 km sidewalk system connecting greenbelts and neighborhoods keeps runners and walkers fit all year round.
If one of your best friends is a horse, we have trails that meander through the old growth forest by our Snowflake Fairgrounds and Hirsch Creek Park, and riders are welcome on the linear trail system in the Strawberry Meadows Subdivision.
Staying active is part of the Pacific Inland Coast Way of life.
