IN THE FOREST - ACTIVE OUTDOOR LIVING
Hunting, shooting and archery
Eating naturally is a customary undertaking by a large number of Kitimat residents. With active interests in gardening, fishing or game hunting, many residents actively determine their own food basket. Moreover, the best part is you don't have to go far to hunt or fish around Kitimat. A Reference Hunting Synopsis is issued yearly and is readily available at local outfitters..
Day-trip hunting is available in the Kitimat Valley and Nass Valley, and a weekend will enable hunters to explore hunting along the Pacific Inland Coast. Nearby areas that are popular include Stewart-Meziadin or Smithers as well as north and south.
Big game available include moose, deer, black and grizzly bears, wolves and cougars. Upland ducks and geese are plentiful and due to the late coastal fall, the waterfowl season extends into mid-winter. As is the case in many British Columbia regions, there is limited entry for grizzly; moose hunting is conducted as a one-week open season. Hunting supplies are readily available in Kitimat.
