Riverlodge Recreation Centre is a large facility offering a wide variety of programs for all ages. There is a 50% discount on program fees, with a few exceptions, for seniors 60+. Programs that are particularly popular with retirees are the a.m. fitness classes, yoga, walk around the block, line dancing, the strength training room, the cardio room, watercolour painting, pottery and Spanish lessons.
The Snowflake Seniors Centre is next door which facilitates easy use of Riverlodge for some seniors’ centre programs. As you might guess, Riverlodge is located a short walk from the Kitimat River where salmon and steelhead abound.
Many community meetings, dances and special events, such as the Spring and Christmas Craft Fairs, the Winter Festival D’Hiver and Canada Day Celebrations take place at Riverlodge. The centre has two meeting rooms, a big community room with a kitchen, a huge gym, an art/pottery wing, a racquetball court, and change rooms with showers.
