MEDICAL SERVICES – Modern Facilities on the Awesome Pacific Inland Coast
Kitimat General Hospital and Health Centre
Opened in 2002 and located adjacent to downtown, Kitimat General Hospital and Health Centre has a beautiful unique design and houses almost all of our medical services in its 120,000 square feet. The waiting area is spacious and airy with a two story high ceiling and glass front. Patients enjoy the scenery while waiting for appointments.
The hospital has 22 acute care beds and 36 multi-level care beds, two operating rooms and complete laboratory, rehabilitation, and diagnostic imaging departments. It is also the home for public health, home care, home support, mental health services and our diabetes outreach program as well as offices for physicians and visiting specialists.Kitimat is fortunate to have a full roster of family physicians. All our residents are able to have a family doctor.
Specialists in urology, gynaecology, obstetrics, internal medicine, podiatry, and endocrinology come to Kitimat General Hospital to see their Kitimat patients on a weekly, twice monthly or monthly basis.
Those needing to see other specialists in Terrace can take the Northern Health subsidized connector bus that goes to Terrace and back three times a day on weekdays and stops in front of the Mills Memorial Hospital.
The Arthritis Support Group meets once a month in the Community Health Group Room on the second floor of the hospital.
