WHEN GRANDKIDS VISIT

They'll enjoy our playground too

Kitimat retirees need not fear that their grandchildren will be bored when they come to visit. Kitimat offers a wide variety of activities that retirees and their young visitors can do together and many organized activities that the grandchildren can do with other children

Both young and old will enjoy doing the following together:

  • fishing for a big one at the river,
  • biking on the many walkways and at the skateboard park,
  • swimming at the pool and having great fun on the waterslides and in the spray park,
  • skating at the arena,
  • swinging, sliding and climbing monkey bars at one of our playgrounds,
  • hiking some of the easier trails such as Pine Creek and Clearwater Lakes,
  • visiting the Giant Spruce,
  • kicking a soccer ball around or playing softball on one of the many green spaces or on the soccer field and baseball diamonds beside Riverlodge Recreation Centre
  • hitting golf balls at the Hirsch Creek driving range,
  • camping at Radley Park or Lakelse Provincial Park,
  • beach combing at Hospital (Alcan) Beach,
  • renting a paddle boat at Water Lily Bay,
  • picnicking, swimming, hiking, sandcastle building or fishing off the dock at the Lakelse Provincial Park day area.
During spring break and the summer time the Kitimat Museum and Archives, the Kitimat Public Library and the Kitimat Recreation Department offer a smorgasbord of organized activities that young visitors will relish.
