Kitimat is located on the Pacific Inland Coast, nestled amongst the magnificent, snow-capped coastal mountains at the end of the Douglas Channel in Northwest British Columbia.

Kitimat is easily accessible:
- from Vancouver and Prince George by Air (5 flights daily),
- from Edmonton by a direct route along Trans Canada Highway #16
- from the southern British Columbia by driving north on Highway #97 to Prince George and west on Trans Canada Highway #16, turn onto Highway # 37 at Terrace for a 45 minutes drive to Kitimat.
Another popular route is a leisurely and scenic ferry trip from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert, then east along Hwy 16 to Terrace and south along Hwy 37. B.C. Ferries will soon be adding a new route by ferry from Tsawwassen.
