EMERGENCY SERVICES

In Kitimat emergency services are accessed by dialing 911.

  

POLICING

Policing in Kitimat is provided by the RCMP with eighteen regular members, two auxiliary officers, five full time support staff and victims' services. The department has eight police vehicles and one patrol vessel.

 

AMBULANCE

Kitimat's ambulance service is delivered by the District Fire & Rescue Services Department. In addition to being firefighters, all department members are also qualified paramedics. They strive for excellence in the performance of their duties and participate in annual courses offered by the B.C. Ambulance Services.

 

FIRE

In addition to providing fire supression services and fire prevention and public education, the District Fire & Rescue Services Department also provides pre-hospital emergency care, rescue services and hazard mitigation. The departement's eighteen full time members are well trained in all aspects of their duties. Each year on the first Friday in May during National Emergency Preparedness Week, the fire hall has an open house that is both educational and fun for the whole family.
